Detroit Cass Tech junior quarterback Rodney Hall visited the Northern Illinois University campus over the weekend, and it did not take him long to decide where he wanted to played his college ball at, committing to the Huskies tonight, over Twitter. Hall is the first one out of Cass Tech's super-talented class of 2017, which features seven players with at least one Division I offer, to commit to a school.

The 6-3, 210-pounder threw for 2,176 yards and 18 touchdowns, and ran for 1,127 more yards, while racking up 16 more scores, during a season that was cut short due to a broken bone in his lower leg.

"It was a perfect fit for me, and I love the coaches," Hall said on why he committed to NIU. "They have good facilities, and I enjoyed it there on my visit."

Hall had a handful of offers from other schools in the Mid-American Conference, and had just received the offer from NIU two days ago, before he decided to end his recruitment. He and his parents took a visit to NIU over the weekend, and they were all impressed by what they heard and saw, prompting Hall to make the call.

"They approved of it, and agreed that it's the perfect fit for me," Hall said about his parents thoughts on his commitment. "Talking to the coaches in person, and getting an understanding on what they expect out of me, was the best thing about my visit. They want me to come early, and and compete to play. I love the facilities as well."

With the 2016 season quickly approaching, Hall had his boot removed off his foot in January, and said he is almost at 100% recovery, and looking to get Cass Tech back to the state title game.
